Interview with Dathie Digital Illustrator

Many of you like to admire beautiful works on facebook, Deviant art and many other sites, but all beauty has behind it lots of work an passion. I will ask Dathie , a very talented young lady how drawing became her passion and hope she would share some of her secrets with us. 

Animaboo: How you started drawing anime and for how long you do this ?

Dathie: I kinda just started doodling it in school, like I think friends introduced it and I was watching various anime on TV (pokemon..Yu-Gi-Oh..). so most of it was my just doodling in notepads up until I was about 16/17, then I got a graphics tablet and actually started taking it more seriously when I was about 17/18.

Animaboo: What techniques you use most of time ?

Dathie: I try to test out new techniques, but got into the habits of;

Backgrounds – entirely done in photoshop, majority of it being 1 layer. Edits, effects and foreground items take up more layers but I undertake different blend modes depending on the item (for example; magic will have outer glows and blend layers, but some leaves may just be blurred a little for depth of field)

Characters – done majorly in SAI, though I do sketching in clip studio with my own anatomy technique (which never stays the same!). line art is a bit messy, for me I just want it to connect, and colouring is mostly cell shade with some blending.

Overall, aside from the odd parts, most of what I do is with relatively basic brushes.

Animaboo: Do you like more to use programs and which ones are they , or you use pencils and markers?

Dathie: I use multiple programs, as said above I use Photoshop, paint tool SAI and also clip studio pro.

I have several traditional mediums as I like to experiment, but they are more to prolong my habits in notebook sketching.

Animaboo: How much time you spend every day drawing ?

Dathie: Hmm ranges, if I’m stuck on traditional, at most an hour. I have the mind of a squirrel

If its digital, I’m more patient and can go a couple hours at a time.

Animaboo: Does it take long to complete one of your beautiful pictures?

Dathie: last I recorded myself, about 7 hours. Average that I’d say between 7- 10 hours.

Animaboo: Are inspired by manga you read , anime you watch or you like to create characters of your own ?

Dathie: I’m more for original, I have 8 characters, to which I can probably say 4 of them were inspired by a select couple of games when I initially made them and named them to mark that. However I’ve since drifted from the original design and you’d never even guess where they originated!

Past that I don’t do much fanart, nor do I really watch or read much anime or manga. There’s the odd series I can commit to, but I think  I’ve become too hyper critical, I judge movies and find plot holes while my friends just sit in fascination of what they just saw.

 Animaboo: Would you like to draw your own manga story ? Or you already done that ?

Dathie: the day I stop altering the oc’s! I think it’d be cool to see them used in a game or manga or anime, I couldn’t do it, writing is far beyond what I can do. That said, I have my main characters well set and even in commission I like to see what others do with them.

Animaboo: What is your favorite character ?

Dathie: of mine? My mascot, you probably don’t need a name since nearly every other picture is of her! She got my name when I made her (I’m not going to list my excuses I’ll just hide in the corner) I like her most because I’ve always been one for magic and stars, and she’s the one I assigned it all to!!

In regards to anime, I’m not sure I have one! I kinda like pick my favorites from series, but I don’t have the whole: You are my whole life!!!!!

Diabolik lovers; Kanato ß I want no questions as to how I found this series, or why I bothered watching, but lets just say, that character was the least boring!

Animaboo:  In the end , what would you like to tell to your fans and people just starting to draw ?

Dathie: have fun! Draw what you like, and if you want to tackle improvement, analyse your weakest areas and focus on them. Also try new things and be daring occasionally. If your in a rut, call out for some feedback, but be willing to take it!

Servamp anime 2016

Year : 2016
Genre : Vampires , Comedy, Drama, School life

Plot/Characters:
It is a typical story where a young boy drives into fantasy world when from his kind heart takes in a stray black cat , pretty predictable the cat turns into a vampire and becomes his servant , now they will save everyone and be town heroes saving them from other mad people other vampire servants and owners. Shirota is an extreme altruist and Kuro is the total opposite , fantasy comedy anime , the plot is pretty predictable , light , on the other side beside naive cute scenes there are seconds when screen becomes red and blood runs in fountains, this may put you into a dilemma is this a cute anime for children or not. If you like anime with cute characters , uncomplicated plots , pretty predictable , you like vampires and a bit of drama a bit of comedy , you may like this one to.
Shirota Mahiru - orphan , 15 years , loves when everything is simple , he helps everyone and does things nobody wants to do because long ago nobody wanted to do one thing , take him and take care of him when he was a child and he lost his mother. Shirota is altruist to the point of insanity , he can sacrifice everything for others , his time and life , he seems very naive.
Kuro - Kuro is a vampire that takes for of a black cat almost like in sailor moon lol, well he is a a vampire , lazy one that doesn't like problems or doesn't want to do anything and opposite to Mahiru tries to stay away from people and everything.

Free anime avatar character makers review

Well I think many of you like to create funny cards or make cute anime drawings but some of you do not have programs or time, experience. So , Ii was thinking to search the cutest and fastest way to create your own anime avatar. The programs / sites I will test will not represent a top, just the order I tested them, found or read about them. You can see the style and colors of each and pick the one suites more for your needs, they are all cute in their way.

1. Has options to change different parts of the hair , most games of this type give you option just to pick hair here you can have your own type of top bottom and other parts so you can create somehow your own hair stile . Pro.

2. A minus is that you have very little options on eyes , but you have a fair amount of eye colors to pick from. 

3. The clothes styles are a bit limited to.

4. A pro is that the design of the items is pretty good even the number of them is pretty limited. 

5. A minus that sometimes appear adds that you have to close but in the end site has to exist on something, ty to creators.

6. A pro that on this site you can find a ton of other avatar creators and chibi creators about 16 or more pages of games dedicated to avatar creation, all are cute and I think you will fine one of your taste. 

7. A pro is also that all features are easy to use.

8. A minus that some games on this site have very limited options on character creations, only about 10 - 20 types or less options on each item.

2. You can change little details of the character like eyelashes and other small parts , this option gives you power to create a totally unique character you want and limitless options, very good idea.
3. A minus is that the program seems unfinished when you go to the outfits part you have very little options, and the interface of the program is unfinished.
I really enjoyed this program it looks like the one that made it put a lot of passion in it , ty for your work.

Re Hamatora (TV2) 2014 second season

Year : 2014
Genre : Supernatural , Detective.

Plot : This is the continuation of adventures and cases  of Hamatora detective agency , a detective agency where ppl with super powers work so called “minimum holders “.

The store continued with Nice the main character , a top level minimum holder and child childhood friend Art that now turns to be the main villain in this case.

Even so Nice doesn’t give up on his friend at least at the beginning and tries to understand the reasons Art has to do everything he does.

This anime is a typical anime about people with superhero powers but in the same time it is different by the  type and way they use it, the characters of the superheroes are also different from the usual ones even they are so talented they do have usual life problems, fears and doubts. 

If you like anime with lots of action , some drama and unusual detective cases this is what you looking for .

 Art ( first from the left ) - it seems that he was the only one without a minimum power that graduated the minimum academy . In this series is revealed that Art can come back to life , this explains why they could not determine the minimum he had , until he didn’t die he could not come back to life , until Moral didn’t kill them , this are just speculations thou.

Victorian Romance Emma / Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma review

Victorian Romance Emma has two seasons and is a classical fantasy anime with as the title say a lot of old fashion romance , ladies in beautiful dresses this anime is for you . English style houses , outfits and lovely ambiance . The main story is about forbidden love between a rich aristocrat William Jones and Emma a simple servant , hope you will enjoy it .

There are some funny moments to , for example how Emma meet William first time .

Victorian Romance Emma

The music in this anime is very nice and offers sometimes more details about characters feeling then the words they could say. It has 12 episodes and also has the second season.

If you look for a  classical , romantic anime to watch and relax this evening this is what you looking for.

The Skull man anime review

Hayato Mikogami  - a 23 years journalist that comes in Otomo City to get a sensational information and find out who is the legendary Skull man that killed a famous actres and many other people .
Kiriko Mamiya - a young girl that wants to become a newspaper photographer and becomes Hayato partner after he helps her to get in Otomo City without a permision.

Plot :
The skull man anime starts as a detective anime , one journalist Hayato Mikogami comes in his old town to find  out about the  legendary Skull man , a unknown man that killed a lot of people lately . Everybody is wondering who is this mysterious killer. Wandering at night on deserted streets journalist  finaly finds what he was looking for , he see the skelleton man killing other man .
In next 2 episodes you can see a series of actions and transformation of a young girl in a angel like  beast , after thet it is being killed by the skelleton man and two other , one is a women and a young man , they both transform in dog shaped beasts . In this period of time you can;t understand yet who is the real villain .
It seems that a biochemical company is involved in all this , there is also a legend about ghost train that is somehow related to this events . During next episodes in anime apears the second skull man , he is a fake copy that is used by the biochemical company to kill the oponents of their cause , noboy knows yet the true identiy of the real skull man, some of them say that he is an unfinished experiment that run away .
In  this anime is not only detective and horror part there is also romance , in the eight episode you can see the Maya ( daughter of biochemical company president) feelings for Yoshiho Kanzaki ( local priest ), she tell a sad story about Kay and Ho love to Kiriko Mamiya , jouralist Hayato  helper . Latter is revealed that Skull Man never kills inocent people , and his power comes from the mask he wears, he was eliminating just the people that transformed  in monsters  from Kagou project.

The anime characters are interesting , but the graphics is for old anime lovers . The plot is classic even the main hero is not the perfection of goodness , it has his own way of justice . In one of the episodes he say that “ to destroy the something evil you must become even more evil than that “ .

Uchouten Kazoku / The Eccentric Family review

Nice anime , I like the  style of drawing  , colors and characters seem fun and new . The story is about a young man that can transform in a tanuki ( raccon ) he loves to transform in a girl or a guy and  make jokes on his brother and other people .

Sentai Filmworks did you knew .

Sentai Filmworks is an anime distribution and licensing company . I was very pleased to find out an offical  english site where I could see a list of anime from wich some of them I find  very nice to watch .
For example  distributed by them are such anime as Fate / Stay Night , Gintama ( who doesnt love Gintama ) , Guin Saga , Clannad , Broken Blade , Book of Bantorra ( the plot starts nice but it gets fuzzy after ) ,
Appleseed ( all mecha anime fans should watch it ) , Hight School of the Dead ( I am not a fan of zombie but hte  people that liek them  def  would adore this anime ) , Letter Bee ( very interesting fantasy anime , very original plot ) , Maid - Sama ( a nice silice of life comedy anime , lots of romance also ) , No. 6 ( Nr. 6 ) ( Not a bad fantasy anime , you might get confused in some point but it is not bad  ) , Psychic Detective Yakumo ( a detective story with some  horror fiction flavour , for detective anime lovers ) , Rozen Maide and Rourouni Kenshin ( I think this aniem are so pupular that they don;t need any words ) . There is a ton of other  anime that you might find interesting on their site I allready made a long list to check out some anime I seen long time ago or I am interested to watch .

Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist Anime released July 2013

First episode was released on 07 July . All Fantasy anime fans should watch it , first episode seems interesting , let's see what is next . More details will come .
